ROUTE 8/I-84 MIXMASTER REHABILITATION
Closure of Route 8 Southbound

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that, in order to facilitate construction work associated with the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) rehabilitation project in Waterbury, Route 8 Southbound will be closed.
CLOSURE INFORMATION
Route 8 Southbound (starting at Exit 32) will be closed beginning Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Route 8 Southbound will again be closed Monday, November 2, 2020 through Friday, November 6, 2020 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour. These closures are necessary for stage construction changes on the bridge that carries southbound traffic through the Interchange. Once complete, traffic will utilize the left lane which is the new portion of the bridge deck.
DETOUR
Motorists should follow the Route 8 Southbound to Exit 32 (Riverside Street). Follow Riverside Street to Route 8 Southbound Naugatuck/Bridgeport on-ramp.
This closure may cause traffic impacts due to the Exit 19 ramp (from I-84 Westbound to Route 8 Southbound) also being closed. The Connecticut Department of Transportation is urging motor vehicles to seek an alternative route if possible.
